A Fully Reimagined Acoustic Experience
Some guitars feel like they were built around a real player's frustrations. The Ibanez AAM380CENT is one of those. Ibanez took a hard look at the traditional auditorium body, questioned just about every assumption, and came back with something genuinely different — an Advanced Auditorium shape with a slightly wider waist moved toward the neck, an Advanced Access cutaway that opens up the upper register in a way most acoustics don't, and a proprietary bracing system developed over two-plus years of prototyping. The result is a guitar that sounds and feels like it was built to actually be played hard.
On top of all that, the AAM380CENT comes loaded with a dual-pickup system that gives you real control over your amplified tone — not just a single volume knob and a prayer. Whether you're writing at home, recording in a studio, or playing a venue where "acoustic night" means you're plugging in, this guitar is ready for it.
Players who want an acoustic-electric that takes the plugged-in side seriously — without sacrificing the unplugged experience — will find a lot to like here.
Built From the Top Down
The solid Sitka spruce top is paired with Ibanez's proprietary X-M bracing — a scalloped design with tone braces and finger braces engineered specifically for the Advanced Auditorium body shape. The result is a wide dynamic range with slightly scooped mids, clear highs, and a full low end that doesn't get muddy. The A.I.R. port (Acoustic Information Response) sits on the top of the body, using a specially designed internal structure to reflect sound waves toward the player — so you can actually hear yourself clearly without leaning into the soundhole.
The rosewood back and sides deliver a well-balanced, focused midrange, and the Advanced Auditorium body's wider waist improves body-to-weight balance compared to conventional auditorium shapes. The Natural High Gloss finish lets the wood grain speak for itself while protecting the surface with a polished, clean look.
A Neck That Stays Out of Your Way
The Thermo Aged African mahogany neck uses a heat-treatment process that accelerates the natural aging of the wood — the idea being improved resonance and stability. Ibanez shapes it with their Low Oval profile and rounded fretboard edges, which makes long playing sessions noticeably more comfortable. The 43mm nut width sits in a sweet spot that works for both strumming and fingerpicking, and the Macassar ebony fretboard brings a snappy, articulate response — tight lows, strong attack, and rich sustain.
The Advanced Access cutaway starts deep at the 18th fret with a shaved side design, giving you genuinely comfortable access to the upper register. Luminlay side dots glow in low-light stage conditions, so you always know where you are on the neck. The tapered headstock design keeps weight down while improving tuning stability.
Dual-Pickup Electronics That Give You Options
The AAM380CENT runs two separate pickups: a T-bar undersaddle pickup and a contact pickup, each with its own dedicated volume control via the Ibanez Custom Electronics preamp. Blending the two lets you dial in the undersaddle's string clarity against the contact pickup's body resonance and percussive attack. The system offers dual outputs — mono or stereo — so you can run direct to a board or split to two separate channels.
The compensated bone saddle and bone nut contribute to solid intonation and open tone transfer, while the lightweight Macassar ebony scalloped bridge improves vibration efficiency and allows more flexibility in action adjustment than a traditional bridge. Chrome die-cast tuners with an 18:1 gear ratio round out the hardware with reliable, precise tuning.
