The Martin MA175S Authentic Acoustic Marquis Silked strings are a 6-string acoustic guitar set built around one practical idea: protecting the parts of your guitar that take the most abuse during string changes. The silk wrap at the ball ends cushions the bridge holes and bridge plate against wear, and the added thickness helps keep bridge pins firmly seated — a genuine help on older instruments with worn bridge holes.
These are uncoated 80/20 bronze strings on a tin-plated steel core, wound round. The Custom Light gauge (.011–.052) sits between extra light and standard light, giving you a manageable feel with a bit more volume and projection than extra lights. The tin plating on the core wire adds corrosion resistance across all six strings without affecting tone the way a full coating would.
