Martin's X Series has always been about making a real Martin accessible to more players — real tonewoods, real craftsmanship, real playability, without the sticker shock of the higher series. The 000-X2E Brazilian Burst Special takes that formula and adds some personality: a Vintage Burst finish over a solid spruce top, Brazilian rosewood-pattern HPL back and sides, and a handful of upgraded appointments that make it look a bit more like the high-dollar Martins you see on stage.
The 000 body size is one of Martin's most balanced shapes. It's comfortable to hold, easy to play sitting or standing, and produces a focused, even tone across all six strings. Add the short 24.9" scale length, and you've got a guitar that's genuinely easy to play — great for fingerpickers, singer-songwriters, and anyone who spends long stretches with a guitar in their lap.
The E1 electronics system means you can take it to a gig or open mic and plug straight in without a second thought. Whether you're sitting around a campfire or on a stage, this guitar handles both comfortably.
A Solid Spruce Top in a Vintage Burst Finish
The top is solid spruce with a satin hand-applied finish — and it wears the Vintage Burst coloring beautifully. The burst adds warmth and vintage character to the look without feeling costume-y. Under that finish, the solid spruce responds with the crisp articulation and projection that X Series players have come to expect from Martin. Scalloped X-bracing supports the top and helps notes open up with sustain and resonance as the guitar gets played in.
The back and sides are Brazilian rosewood-pattern high-pressure laminate (HPL). HPL is notably resistant to humidity and temperature swings — the kind of thing that can crack a traditional acoustic over time — making this guitar a reliable travel and gigging companion. The Brazilian rosewood pattern gives it an eye-catching look that punches above the price point.
A Neck Built for Modern Playability
Martin's PA (Performing Artist) Profile neck features the High-Performance Taper — a design that lowers the action progressively as you move up the neck, making it easier to play cleanly at higher frets. The neck and fingerboard are select hardwood, and the nut width is 1 3/4", a comfortable modern spec that works well for most playing styles. The fingerboard joins the body at the 14th fret, and there are 20 frets total.
The fretwork has been Plek'd from the factory, meaning each fret has been leveled and dressed by a precision computer-controlled machine. Players often notice this immediately in the setup — smoother action, fewer dead spots, and more consistent intonation across the neck. The nut is White Corian, and chrome closed-gear tuners keep things in tune reliably.
Special Appointments and Martin E1 Electronics
This Brazilian Burst Special steps up the visual game compared to a standard X Series model. Faux mother-of-pearl diamond and square fingerboard inlays, a single ring faux abalone rosette, a faux tortoise pickguard, and a unique Martin block logo on the headplate all come together to give the guitar a more refined, vintage-inspired appearance.
On the electronics side, the Martin E1 system sits unobtrusively in the soundhole area — controls on the bass side, a chromatic tuner on the treble side. Volume, tone, and phase controls let you dial in a stage-ready amplified tone. It captures the natural voice of the solid spruce top well and makes this guitar genuinely versatile from the practice room to the venue.
