A Piece of Peavey's American Craft Era
Before outsourcing became the industry norm, Peavey was building some genuinely impressive guitars right here in the USA — and the Generation Series is one of the better arguments for why that mattered. This single-cutaway design takes obvious cues from the Telecaster but adds its own personality: a mahogany body capped with a figured flame maple top showing through in Trans Blue, gold hardware, active electronics, and a coil-tap switch that gives you a little more flexibility than your typical two-pickup guitar.
This particular example has been upgraded with EMG active pickups (see the note about the "HASS" designation in the store description — the exact model is noted below), which push the output well beyond the original Peavey active system. The guitar is a slice of early-'90s American guitar-making and a genuinely useful instrument for players who like their controls simple and their tone direct.
This Peavey Generation Series is in Good condition. The guitar is fully functional, It has hardware oxidation ding on neck heel.
Body and Construction
The Generation S-1 features a single-cutaway mahogany body with a flame maple top — a combination that balances warmth and articulation. The top on this guitar is finished in Trans Blue, allowing the flame figure to show through clearly. Gold hardware was standard across the USA-made Generation lineup, giving the guitar a dressy look that contrasts nicely with the blue finish.
The neck is bolt-on laminated maple, which keeps the voice bright and punchy. The 22-fret rosewood fingerboard has pearl dot inlays, and the graphlon nut helps maintain tuning stability. The brass bridge is fixed — no tremolo here, which means better sustain and no tuning drama.
Electronics
The Generation S-1 originally shipped with Peavey's own active single coil/humbucker setup, including a coil-tap switch and three-position selector. This particular guitar has been fitted with EMG active pickups (labeled "HASS" in our store system — the exact configuration has not been independently verified from an approved source, so please see the flag notes). EMG actives are well-known for their consistent output, low noise floor, and clarity under high gain. If you're coming from passive pickups, the plugged-in response will feel noticeably different — tighter and more immediate.
Controls include volume, tone, and the three-way pickup selector. The coil-tap switch was part of the original spec and may or may not be present on this modified unit — verify with photos or in-store inspection.
What to Know Going In
This is a used instrument with some visible wear. The gold hardware shows oxidation — expected on a guitar of this age with gold plating — and there is a ding on the neck heel. Neither issue affects playability. All used guitars at C.A. House Music are inspected, and the instrument comes with a hardshell case. If you want a USA-built guitar with an interesting pickup setup and genuine early-'90s character, this is worth a close look.
