Art You Can Actually Play
There are guitars that look interesting, and then there's the Luna Vista Deer — a guitar where the top is the artwork. Each instrument is handcrafted from a mosaic of tropical tonewoods including Padauk, Blackwood, Spalted Maple, Quilted Mahogany, Teal Abalone, Mother of Pearl, and Koa, arranged to depict a serene deer scene across the entire top. No two are exactly alike. If you've been searching for something that makes people stop and stare before you even play a note, this is it.
But the Vista Deer isn't just a showpiece. The Grand Concert cutaway body keeps things comfortable and balanced whether you're sitting around the campfire or standing at a mic, and the Koa back and sides add warmth and projection to everything you play. Luna has been building visually striking acoustic guitars since 2005, and the Vista series sits at the top of that aesthetic tradition.
This is a great fit for players who want a giggable acoustic-electric that's genuinely one-of-a-kind — whether you're playing singer-songwriter sets, coffeehouse shows, or just don't want a guitar that blends into the wall at home.
A Top Unlike Any Other
The Vista Deer's top is assembled by hand from a combination of Padauk, Mother of Pearl, Blackwood, Spalted Maple, Teal Abalone, Quilted Mahogany, and Koa. These materials aren't just inlays — they're the top itself, each piece selected and shaped to bring a wildlife panorama to life. The result is that every Vista Deer that comes off the line looks a little different, making yours genuinely unique.
Surrounding the artwork is flamed maple binding that ties the whole aesthetic together. The gloss natural finish lets the natural colors and grain of each wood pop without adding a color cast, so what you see is the real character of the materials themselves.
Built for the Stage
The Grand Concert body shape hits a comfortable middle ground — fuller than a parlor, more manageable than a dreadnought. The single cutaway gives you easy access to the upper frets when you need to reach up for leads or melodic runs. Koa back and sides are known for a balanced, articulate tone with a lively midrange and clear highs, making this guitar work well both acoustically and plugged in.
For amplification, Luna equipped the Vista Deer with a Fishman Presys+ (PSY-201) preamp with built-in tuner. It's a reliable, stage-ready system that captures the acoustic character of the instrument cleanly, and having the tuner built in means one less thing on your pedalboard.
Neck, Fretboard, and Hardware
The hand-shaped mahogany neck has a comfortable C profile and a 25-1/2" scale length — familiar territory for players used to standard acoustic proportions. At the fretboard end, you get an ebony board with Pearl Moon Phase inlays that keep the celestial nature theme running all the way up the neck. The nut width is 1-11/16" (43mm), which is a standard fit that works for a wide range of playing styles.
Hardware runs gold throughout, with sealed die-cast tuners keeping the tuning stable. The ebony bridge and bone nut round out the feel of a well-specified instrument. Luna strings it with D'Addario EXP16 coated strings from the factory.
