The Hodge Silk Flute Swab is a straightforward, reliable solution: thread it through the end of your cleaning rod and pull it through the body of your flute to remove moisture after each use. No drop string needed.

Hodge makes this swab from 100% silk, which has a few real advantages over cotton or chamois. Silk is more absorbent than either, and it's also highly compressible — so it pulls smoothly through the bore without bunching or getting stuck. Most importantly, it's completely lint-free, meaning it won't leave fibers behind in your keys or pads. The swab doubles as a light polishing cloth for the exterior of the instrument. Available in performers black, royal blue, burgundy, forest green, and deep purple.
