One Board, Every Tone You Need

There's a certain point where a pedalboard stops being a convenience and starts being a project — cable runs, power supplies, tap tempo sync across three different pedals. The Boss GX-100 sidesteps all of that. It's a compact, all-in-one floor processor built around the same AIRD amp modeling and effect library found in Boss's flagship GT-1000, all wrapped in a rugged all-metal chassis you can actually trust on a gigging rig.

What makes the GX-100 feel different to use is its color touchscreen. Navigating signal chains, flipping effects on and off, and editing patch parameters all happen on a vivid display that's readable even under bright stage lighting — no squinting at tiny scrolling menus. There are still plenty of physical knobs, footswitches, and buttons too, so you're never locked into touch-only operation.

Whether you're running straight into a PA, plugging into an FRFR monitor, or using the four-cable method with your amp's effects loop, the GX-100 has the I/O and routing flexibility to fit naturally into how you already play.

AIRD Amp Modeling and Effects Library

The GX-100 comes loaded with 23 AIRD amplifier types — Boss's Augmented Impulse Response Dynamics technology, which is designed to deliver tube-like touch response and natural-feeling breakup. The AIRD Output Select lets you tailor the output character precisely for your destination, whether that's an amp input, an FRFR monitor, or a front-of-house PA.

On the effects side, you get over 150 effect types derived from the GT-1000, covering everything from overdrives and fuzz to modulation, delay, reverb, pitch, and Boss classics like Slow Gear and Octave. Up to 15 simultaneous effect blocks can run at once, and routing is completely flexible — you can split your signal into parallel chains, stack drive pedals, and assign effects before or after amp simulation without any workarounds.

Speaker cabinet modeling is built in as well, with a wide selection of onboard cabinet types plus the ability to load your own WAV-format IR files via USB for fully customized tone shaping.

Real-Time Control and Connectivity

Eight onboard footswitches come pre-configured for bank and patch selection, but they're fully reassignable to match how you perform. A Manual mode flips them into direct stompbox-style operation — one switch per effect — so you can work the board like a traditional pedalboard if that's your preference. The built-in expression pedal with toe switch handles volume swells, wah, or any other assignable parameter.

For expanded control, you can connect up to two external footswitches or an additional expression pedal. MIDI I/O jacks let you integrate the GX-100 into a larger MIDI rig or sync tempo to an external clock. The send/return loop accommodates external pedals or the four-cable method for placing effects before or after your amp's preamp stage, and an amp control jack handles remote channel switching on compatible amps.

USB connectivity doubles as a multichannel audio interface for direct recording into your DAW. The BOSS Tone Studio app for Mac and Windows gives you deeper patch editing and preset management from your computer. Optional Bluetooth capability (via the separately sold BT-DUAL adapter) lets you edit wirelessly from iOS or Android devices and stream backing tracks directly to the unit.

Presets, Looper, and Tuner

The GX-100 ships with 100 factory presets across 25 banks, plus 200 user memory slots for storing your own sounds. All factory presets can be customized and overwritten, and you can back up your entire library through BOSS Tone Studio. The BOSS Tone Exchange platform also gives you access to additional presets and Livesets shared by other players.

An onboard looper with up to 38 seconds of mono recording time (19 seconds stereo) can be added to any memory, and its position in the signal chain is up to you. A built-in chromatic tuner rounds out the feature set for stage use. The headphones output makes the GX-100 equally useful for quiet home practice or monitoring during recording sessions.
