At the core is a NY Steel hexagonal high-carbon wire, drawn at D'Addario's own facility in Farmingdale, New York. The hex shape gives the wrap wire more surface to grip, which helps with intonation and dimensional consistency. Fusion Twist technology on the plain steel strings reduces slack at the twist, improving both tuning stability and break resistance. The Custom Light gauge sits between Extra Light and Light — a little more volume and projection than an 11-47, but still easy on the fingers.
