The Vandoren V21 is an alto saxophone reed built around a genuinely unique design — it's an unfiled cane reed with a conical shape, the first of its kind in the saxophone reed world. That shape, combined with a thicker spine, gives you a warm, centered sound with solid projection and easy response across the full range of the horn, from the low end all the way through altissimo.
Where the V21 sits is a little different from most Vandoren options. It's warmer and darker than the Traditional reed, but responds more easily than the V12 — a useful middle ground if you've tried both and wanted something in between. Strength 3.5 works well for players who need a little more resistance and body in their sound. Each box contains 10 individually flow-packed reeds sealed for freshness, sourced from cane grown in Vandoren's own fields in the south of France.
