Big Katana Sound, Bedroom-Friendly Size
Some practice amps feel like a compromise — something you tolerate until you can play through the real thing. The Boss Katana-25 isn't that amp. It brings the same Tube Logic technology found in the full-size Katana lineup into a 1x8 combo that weighs just under 11 pounds and fits comfortably on a desk or nightstand without rattling the walls.
At its core, the Katana-25 is a 25-watt modeling combo built around a custom 8-inch speaker in an open-back cabinet. Six distinct amp characters cover the full tonal spectrum — from glassy clean and classic crunch all the way to saturated high-gain brown-sound tones — plus a dedicated voicing tuned specifically for acoustic-electric guitars. BOSS Tube Logic shapes the reactive analog power section to respond to your pick attack and guitar volume the way a tube amp does, so the feel is as convincing as the sound.
Whether you're just starting out or picking the guitar back up after a few years away, the Katana-25 is the kind of amp that actually makes you want to plug in and explore.
60+ Effects, Right Out of the Box
The Katana-25 ships with over 60 BOSS effects on board — drives, modulations, delays, reverbs — and you can run up to five of them simultaneously. That's a full signal chain without a single pedal on the floor. Twenty ready-to-play presets come dialed in and ready to go, and there are 10 open memory slots to save your own setups as you dial things in.
For deeper editing, the companion BOSS Tone Studio app connects wirelessly via Bluetooth and opens up the complete effects library with an intuitive interface. Through the app you can also access BOSS Tone Exchange for sharing and downloading patches from players around the world, and the Session function lets you practice along to YouTube videos with automatic Tone Setting changes as the video plays.
Power Control and Practice-Ready Connectivity
The Power Control switch is one of the most practical features on this amp. Toggle between full 25W output and 0.5W bedroom mode, and you can push the amp into driven, expressive tones without pushing anyone out of the room. The character and dynamics stay intact — just at a volume that won't earn you a noise complaint.
Connectivity is thorough for a practice amp. There's a dedicated headphone output for late-night sessions, a class-compliant USB-C port for direct recording to a computer or mobile device with no additional interface required, and a tap tempo button to sync delay effects on the fly. A built-in tuner means one less thing to carry. The FOOT SW/EXP PEDAL jack accepts compatible BOSS FS-series footswitches or expression pedals for hands-free Tone Setting switching.
