A Classic Les Paul with Extra Tricks Up Its Sleeve

There's a reason the Les Paul Studio has been a go-to for working guitarists for decades — it gives you the core Gibson experience without a lot of fuss or flash. The 2012 Les Paul Studio Deluxe '50s takes that blueprint and adds something players genuinely appreciate: coil-tapping, a rounded vintage neck profile, and a pickup pairing that covers a lot of ground. It's an American-made Gibson that earned its stripes by being versatile and reliable, not by looking fancy on a wall.

This particular guitar is finished in Iced Tea Burst — a warm amber-to-brown sunburst that shows off the carved maple top nicely. The '50s neck profile gives it a comfortable, hand-filling feel that many players prefer for chording and rhythm work. It comes with its original hardshell case, making it easy to take anywhere.

If you've been looking for a Gibson Les Paul with more tonal flexibility than your standard two-humbucker setup, this Studio Deluxe '50s is worth a close look.

This Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe '50s is in Very Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a finish imperfection on horn and headstock. Small dent on back of guitar. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.

Body and Construction

The Les Paul Studio Deluxe '50s is built on a solid mahogany body with a carved A-grade maple top. This is the classic Les Paul tonewood combination — mahogany providing warmth and sustain, maple adding clarity and bite on top. The body is finished in a satin-style Iced Tea Burst, showing the warm amber-to-brown gradient across the maple cap.

Hardware includes a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece, which is the tried-and-true Les Paul setup for stable intonation and that characteristic plunky sustain. It's a straightforward, functional rig.

That Rounded '50s Neck

The mahogany neck is carved to a rounded '50s profile — fuller and more substantial than the slim '60s SlimTaper you'd find on other Studio variants. Players who prefer a chunkier feel and more neck in the hand tend to love this profile for rhythm and chord work. It pairs with a baked maple fingerboard featuring mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays, a 1 11/16" nut width, and a 24 3/4" scale length. Grover Rotomatic tuners handle tuning stability at the headstock.

The baked maple board has a slightly different feel and look than rosewood — it's a bit drier to the touch and lighter in color, which some players find suits the vintage aesthetic of the '50s theme well.

Coil-Tapped Pickups — More Voices Than You'd Expect

Here's where the "Deluxe" designation earns its name. This model is loaded with a Zebra-coil 490R humbucker in the neck and a BurstBucker Pro in the bridge — both wired for coil-tapping via push/pull volume knobs. That means you're not stuck with just humbucker tones. Pull up either volume knob and you get into single-coil territory, which opens up cleaner, brighter sounds useful for everything from clean arpeggios to vintage-inspired leads.

The 490R in the neck is an Alnico II-based pickup that leans warm and musical without getting muddy. The BurstBucker Pro in the bridge is based on the original PAF spec and brings out clarity and harmonic complexity. Together, and with the coil-tap option, you have a remarkably wide range of tones available in one guitar.
