Classic Gibson Design Meets 1960s Soul

There's something about a Les Paul with a figured top that just stops you in your tracks. This Les Paul Standard 60s Figured Top in Honey Amber does exactly that—the translucent nitrocellulose finish lets that AA figured maple shine through, giving each guitar its own unique grain pattern. Gibson's brought back the design that made these guitars legendary in the first place: solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body, SlimTaper neck profile, and those warm, articulate 60s Burstbucker pickups.

This isn't a guitar loaded with modern switching tricks or weight relief chambers—it's a straightforward instrument that delivers classic Les Paul tone and feel. The SlimTaper neck profile from the early '60s gives you a comfortable, fast-playing feel without getting in the way, whether you're working through chord progressions or running up the fretboard. With its bound rosewood fingerboard, medium jumbo frets, and 12-inch radius, this guitar is built for players who want that vintage vibe with reliable modern construction.

If you're looking for a Les Paul that honors the golden era of Gibson's innovation—without the Custom Shop price tag—this Standard 60s Figured Top is worth your attention. It's a guitar that works across genres, from blues and classic rock to jazz and beyond, with the kind of tone that's been shaping music for over six decades.

That Figured Maple Top and Solid Mahogany Foundation

The Les Paul Standard 60s Figured Top has a solid mahogany body with an AA figured maple top visible beneath the translucent custom color nitrocellulose lacquer finish. This isn't just about looks—the maple top adds clarity and bite to the warmth and midrange punch that mahogany is known for. The guitar features one-piece slab sawn mahogany backs with no weight relief, giving you that authentic weight and resonance that players associate with vintage Les Pauls. These guitars typically weigh between 9 and 10 pounds, depending on the specific cut of mahogany used.

The Honey Amber finish is a translucent gloss nitro that lets the natural flame and grain of the maple show through. Nitrocellulose lacquer has been Gibson's finish of choice since the 1950s, and it ages beautifully over time, allowing the wood to breathe and resonate naturally. The body features single-ply binding on the top, keeping the aesthetic clean and period-correct.

SlimTaper Neck and Bound Rosewood Fingerboard

The mahogany neck has a 60s-style SlimTaper™ profile and a rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays. The SlimTaper profile from the early '60s is noticeably slimmer than the chunkier '50s-style neck, giving you more freedom for fast playing and easy chord transitions. The guitar features a 24.75-inch scale length with a 12-inch fingerboard radius, a combination that's been the Gibson standard for decades.

The fingerboard features 22 medium jumbo frets, offering a balance between playability and vintage accuracy. The nut is made by Graph Tech and measures 43.05mm (1.694 inches) in width, providing comfortable string spacing for both rhythm and lead work. The bound fingerboard edges are rolled for comfort, and the acrylic trapezoid inlays give the guitar that classic Les Paul aesthetic.

60s Burstbucker Pickups and Hand-Wired Electronics

The 60s Burstbucker™ pickups are loaded with Alnico 5 magnets and hand-wired to individual volume and tone controls that feature audio taper potentiometers. The tone controls use Orange Drop® capacitors. These pickups deliver PAF-style humbucker tone with the kind of clarity and warmth that works whether you're playing clean jazz chords or cranking up the gain for rock and blues.

The Burstbucker 61R in the neck position and Burstbucker 61T in the bridge are voiced to complement each other, giving you smooth, rounded tones from the neck pickup and brighter, more articulate sounds from the bridge. The 3-way toggle switch lets you use either pickup individually or blend them together, and the individual volume and tone controls for each pickup give you plenty of tonal flexibility. All the electronics are hand-wired in the traditional Gibson style, using quality components that have proven themselves over decades of use.

Classic Hardware and Appointments

The Les Paul Standard 60s Figured Top is equipped with a classic ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, Grover® Rotomatic® "Kidney" tuners, and gold Top Hat knobs with silver reflectors. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge is the same design Gibson introduced in the 1950s, offering individual string intonation adjustment and solid coupling to the body. The aluminum stopbar tailpiece keeps things simple and traditional.

The Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney-shaped buttons are smooth and reliable, keeping the guitar in tune even during aggressive playing. A Graph Tech® nut helps keep the tuning nice and solid in partnership with the Grover tuners, ABR-1 bridge, and Stop Bar tailpiece. All the hardware features nickel plating, and those gold Top Hat knobs with silver reflectors are faithful to the early '60s Les Paul Standard models. The guitar comes with a hardshell case for protection and storage.
