A Hollow Body That Lives Up to Its Reputation

If you've spent any time around vintage guitars, you've probably heard someone mention the ES-330 in the same breath as the Epiphone Casino. They're practically siblings—both fully hollow thinline guitars with that unmistakable P-90 bark. What makes the ES-330 special is how it balances that classic Gibson craftsmanship with a voice that's all its own. The ES-330 shares a similar lightweight, fully hollow thinline body made of 3-ply maple/poplar/maple, and the Antique Natural finish lets you appreciate the wood grain while giving the guitar a vintage-inspired aesthetic right out of the case.

It is supremely resonant and warm-sounding due to its hollow body, trapeze tailpiece, and deep-set neck that creates an optimized bridge location. This isn't a semi-hollow with a center block—the ES-330 is completely hollow, which gives it a very different character than an ES-335. You'll notice it when you're playing unplugged on the couch, and you'll definitely notice it when you plug in. The guitar has presence and natural compression that solid-body guitars just don't deliver.

This is a great choice if you're drawn to blues, Americana, classic rock, or jazz—anywhere you want a guitar with personality and responsiveness. It's also surprisingly good as a practice guitar since it sounds full even without an amp.

P-90 Pickups with Real Character

The ES-330 is powered by a pair of Dogear P-90 pickups that are hand-wired to 500k potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors for bright and clear clean tones and wonderfully nasty, snarling tones when overdriven. These aren't humbuckers—P-90s have their own thing going on. They're articulate, punchy, and a little gritty in the best way. When you dig in, they respond. When you back off your volume knob, they clean up beautifully.

Now, let's talk about feedback. Any fully hollow guitar can be prone to feedback and probably isn't the first choice for ultra-high gain and volume situations, but the ES-330 can be surprisingly easy to control when you apply some gain, and with some judicious palm and fretting hand muting, it will sing and sustain in a unique and musical way that most other guitars can't match. If you're used to working with tube amps and understand how to manage your volume and positioning, the ES-330 becomes an expressive tool rather than a problem.

The hand-wired electronics with quality components mean you're getting the kind of tone that players have relied on for decades. The three-way toggle gives you neck pickup warmth, bridge pickup bite, or both together for a fuller sound. Simple, effective, and musical.

Playability That Feels Right

The mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded "C" profile and features a rosewood fretboard with acrylic small block inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets. The Rounded C profile is one of those shapes that just works for most players—not too chunky, not too thin. The 12" fretboard radius is equally comfortable whether you're playing clean and jangly chords at the first fret or searing lead lines with heavy string bends up high.

The 24.75 in scale length is Gibson's standard scale, which gives the strings a slightly slinkier feel than longer-scale guitars. Bends are easier, and the overall tension feels relaxed under your fingers. The Vintage Deluxe tuners feature white buttons for even more visual flair and, along with the Graph Tech® nut, help keep this thinline hollowbody solidly in tune.

The trapeze tailpiece adds to the visual and sonic appeal of the ES-330, while the fully adjustable ABR-1 bridge ensures spot-on intonation. The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the body feels smooth and looks authentic—this is a guitar that wears its vintage inspiration proudly.
