A Modern Workhorse in Metallic Light Blue
Some guitars make you choose — clean and expressive, or tight and heavy? The Ibanez AZ24S2MLB has a different answer. With two Ibanez Modern Custom humbuckers, the dyna-MIX10 switching system, and an Alter Switch, this thing unlocks ten distinct wiring combinations from one instrument. That's a lot of ground covered before you've even touched a pedal.
The AZ Standard series sits in a sweet spot: real performance features — roasted maple neck, jumbo stainless steel frets, locking tuners — at a price that doesn't require a second mortgage. The Metallic Light Blue finish is understated and cool, the kind of color that photographs well under stage lights without screaming for attention.
If you want one guitar that can move between clean session work, chunky rhythm tones, and high-gain lead playing without flinching, the AZ24S2MLB is worth a serious look.
This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Poly flaw on top. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
Built for Feel: Roasted Maple Neck and Stainless Frets
The roasted maple neck is heat-treated to resist humidity changes and long-term movement — two things that can wreak havoc on an instrument's setup over time. The result is a neck that holds its shape whether you're playing in a dry rehearsal space or a humid outdoor stage. The AZ Oval C profile is comfortable for a wide range of hand sizes, and the satin polyurethane finish keeps friction low so your hand moves freely on long runs.
The jatoba fingerboard contributes a reddish-brown warmth visually and a rich midrange character tonally, with a crisp top end that gives lead lines definition. At 305mm (roughly 12") radius, bends feel natural without the fretting-out issues that plagued older flatter boards. And the jumbo stainless steel frets? They resist wear and corrosion dramatically better than nickel-silver, so your intonation and bend feel stay consistent for years of serious play.
The Super All Access neck joint opens up the upper frets in a way that bolt-on designs traditionally struggle with — you'll feel the difference immediately when you push past the 17th fret.
Ten Voices, One Guitar: dyna-MIX10 Switching
The AZ24S2MLB runs two Ibanez Modern Custom humbuckers — passive, alnico V magnets, direct-mounted to the body. On their own, they deliver punchy, articulate output with good note separation even at high gain. But the real trick here is the dyna-MIX10 system.
Paired with a 5-way lever switch and an Alter Switch (a small secondary toggle), the dyna-MIX10 gives you ten total wiring combinations from those two pickups. That means single-coil-style clarity, full humbucker output, and several in-between blended voices — all available mid-set without reaching for a pedal or changing guitars. It's a thoughtfully designed system that expands what an HH guitar can do.
Controls are straightforward: one volume, one tone. Clean layout, no distractions.
Hardware That Keeps Up
The T106 tremolo bridge features six independent saddles, so precise intonation and action adjustments are easy string by string. The 10.5mm string spacing gives pick attack a little breathing room without feeling too wide for fingerpicking. Ibanez locking machine heads lock string ends at the tuner post, speeding up string changes and keeping tuning stable through aggressive tremolo use. Chrome hardware throughout, finished with a gloss polyester body coat.
Scale length is 25.5" — familiar Fender-standard territory — and the full 24-fret layout gives you two complete octaves on every string, which matters if you're working in higher registers regularly. Nut width is 42mm, keeping the feel compact and fast in the lower positions.
