A Workhorse in Purple — The Yamaha PAC611HFM Pacifica
There's a reason the Yamaha Pacifica series has been a go-to for players since 1990. Born from the California session scene — where you needed one guitar that could do it all — the 611HFM represents the upper tier of Yamaha's Pacifica line, and it shows. This isn't a guitar that coasts on its looks. That translucent purple finish is genuinely striking, and it lets the flamed maple veneer top do its thing. But the specs underneath are what make players keep coming back to it.
You get Seymour Duncan pickups, Grover locking tuners, Graph Tech hardware, and a push-pull coil-split — all at a price that tends to catch people off guard. If you've been hunting for a versatile solidbody that punches well above its weight class, the PAC611HFM is worth a serious look.
This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed DENT ON TRUS ROD COVER EDGE, VERY FINE PLAY SCRATCHES NOTED IN POLY. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
Built for Tone Variety — The Pickup Setup
The PAC611HFM uses a combination that you don't see all that often: a Seymour Duncan TB-14 "Custom 5" humbucker at the bridge paired with a Seymour Duncan SP90-1 soapbar at the neck. The TB-14 is a full, scooped-midrange humbucker with plenty of output for riffing and lead work. The SP90-1 is a P90-style pickup — wider and warmer than a standard single-coil, with a vintage character that sits beautifully for clean playing, bluesy bends, and chordwork.
A 3-position blade selector lets you choose between the two or combine them. And the master tone knob has a push-pull coil-split that converts the TB-14 to single-coil mode — giving you even more sonic territory from a straightforward two-knob layout. Passive electronics throughout, no batteries required.
The Body and Neck — Comfortable from the First Note
The PAC611HFM's body is carved from alder — a lightweight tonewood known for its balanced, clear response across the frequency range. The top is a flamed maple veneer, finished in gloss polyurethane, which gives the guitar that quilted, eye-catching look under the translucent purple. The comfort-contoured shape makes it easy to play whether you're standing at a gig or sitting through a practice session.
The maple neck has a C-shaped profile and a rosewood fingerboard with a 13¾" (350mm) radius — relatively flat by most standards, which makes string bending comfortable without feeling like a trick to execute. Twenty-two frets sit over a 25½" scale length. The bolt-on neck joint keeps construction costs in check while making future adjustments straightforward.
Hardware That Keeps You in Tune
Yamaha didn't cut corners on the hardware here. The Grover locking tuners clamp strings automatically, meaning you can do a string change in a fraction of the usual time and step right back into playing. The Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut is precision-engineered to transfer string vibration to the neck efficiently while eliminating string binding at the nut — important for staying in tune when you're bending hard.
The hardtail bridge uses Yamaha's original steel bridgeplate combined with Graph Tech String Saver saddles. Those Teflon-impregnated saddles reduce string breakage and tone down the sometimes-harsh high-frequency spike that metal saddles can introduce. The result is a bright-but-balanced response with solid sustain. The color-matched flamed maple headstock ties the whole look together in a detail borrowed from Yamaha's legendary Pacifica USA custom shop models.
