An Acoustic That Plays Like an Electric

Some guitars you pick up out of curiosity. Then an hour disappears and you realize you've been playing leads on the 18th fret without even thinking about it. That's the Martin SC-10E Spruce. Part of Martin's Road Series, it's built around a simple idea: what if an acoustic guitar didn't make you work so hard? The asymmetric SC body shape ditches the traditional heel joint entirely with Martin's patented Sure Align neck system, giving you completely unobstructed access to all 20 frets. The Low Profile Velocity neck—thin, fast, shaped like your favorite electric—makes chord changes and position shifts feel natural from the first fret to the last.

This isn't about gimmicks or compromise. The SC-10E delivers full, resonant acoustic tone thanks to its all-solid-wood construction: a solid spruce top for crisp articulation and broad dynamic range, paired with solid sapele back and sides that add warmth and punchy midrange. The Tone Tension X-bracing uses scalloped bracing on the treble side for clarity and responsiveness. Plug it in, and the Martin E1 electronics capture that tone faithfully, with onboard volume, tone, and phase controls plus a built-in chromatic tuner for silent tuning on stage.

If you've been playing traditional acoustics and feeling limited by upper-fret access, or if you're an electric player who finds most acoustics uncomfortable, the SC-10E is worth your time. It's for players who want to play longer, reach higher, and not fight their instrument to do it.

Solid Tonewoods, Modern Voice

The SC-10E pairs Martin's traditional tonewood formula with 21st-century construction. The solid Sitka spruce top delivers the clear, articulate character spruce is known for—crisp note separation whether you're fingerpicking or flatpicking, with excellent sensitivity across the dynamic range. It's a versatile top wood that responds well to light touch and aggressive strumming alike.

Solid sapele back and sides provide the warmth and midrange punch you'd expect from mahogany, but with a slightly brighter top-end shimmer. Sapele's higher density gives it a balanced, consistent voice across the tonal spectrum, making it equally suited to rhythm work and lead lines. The result is a modernized take on Martin's classic Style 18 sonic signature—warm, articulate, and balanced.

The satin finish enhances the natural resonance of the wood rather than dampening it, and visually, it's understated: black binding, a single-ring faux abalone rosette, and a medium cherry stain that lets the wood speak for itself. This is a guitar built for players, not for hanging on a wall.

The Sure Align Neck System

The headline feature here is Martin's patented Sure Align neck system—a heel-less, linear dovetail neck joint that removes the physical barrier between your hand and the upper frets. The neck joins the body at the 13th fret instead of the traditional 12th or 14th, and there's simply no heel to navigate around. You get full, comfortable access to every fret on the 16-inch radius Richlite fingerboard.

The Low Profile Velocity neck profile is thin and fast, designed to accommodate natural wrist rotation as you move up and down the neck. If you're used to electric guitar necks, this will feel immediately familiar. The 1.75-inch nut width strikes a balance between fingerstyle comfort and enough space for clean chord work. At 25.4 inches, the scale length is standard for steel-string acoustics, offering familiar string tension and feel.

The FSC-certified Richlite fingerboard and bridge offer smooth playability and long-term durability. Chrome enclosed-gear tuners keep you in tune reliably. This guitar is built to be played hard and often.

Stage-Ready Electronics

The Martin E1 electronics system is designed for gigging musicians who need reliable, natural sound reproduction. The undersaddle pickup captures the SC-10E's unplugged voice with clarity and warmth, and the onboard controls—volume, tone, and phase reverse—let you shape your amplified sound without external gear.

The phase control is particularly useful for eliminating feedback when you're standing close to your amp or monitor. The built-in chromatic tuner sits in the soundhole, so you can tune silently between songs without reaching for a pedal or clip-on. Whether you're plugging into an acoustic amp, a PA system, or a recording interface, the E1 system delivers consistent, transparent tone that retains the guitar's organic character.
