The D-18 with Stage-Ready Electronics

Walk into any bluegrass jam, folk session, or singer-songwriter gig, and you'll find a Martin D-18. It's been that guitar for nearly a century — the one that just sits right in the mix without crowding out vocals or stepping on the bass. This 2025 Standard Series model pairs that classic dreadnought voice with LR Baggs Anthem electronics, so you get the same balanced acoustic tone you'd expect unplugged, plus the ability to plug in and play anywhere without feedback or piezo quack.

The foundation is pure Martin: solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, built with forward-shifted X-bracing that's been tweaked for the 2025 refresh. Bright trebles, punchy midrange, and exceptional clarity — that's the D-18 sound in three phrases. The LR Baggs Anthem system brings a Tru-Mic microphone and Element pickup together, so when you plug in, you're hearing your guitar amplified, not a pickup trying to fake it.

This one's for players who need a workhorse that sounds great both on the couch and on stage. Whether you're flatpicking through a bluegrass set, fingerpicking in the studio, or playing an outdoor wedding, the D-18 with Anthem electronics has you covered.

Solid Tonewoods and Vintage-Inspired Bracing

The D-18 is handcrafted with a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, delivering a full and balanced voice that improves with age. Martin uses Sitka spruce with Golden Era forward-shifted X-bracing, a design borrowed from their Modern Deluxe Series that enhances projection and sustain while keeping the vintage character intact.

Mahogany back and sides give you warmth and focus without the boomy low-end that can make mixing a challenge. The result is a guitar that records beautifully with minimal EQ and cuts through a live mix without fighting for space. The dreadnought size delivers bold, projective tone and strong bass — enough power to hold your own in a full band, but still articulate enough for solo work.

The gloss finish with aging toner gives the guitar a gently vintage look right out of the case, and the faux tortoise pickguard and binding keep the aesthetic classic and understated.

LR Baggs Anthem: Microphone Meets Pickup

The LR Baggs Anthem system is what makes this guitar stage-ready. Instead of relying solely on an undersaddle piezo (which can sound thin and quacky), the Anthem combines a Tru-Mic microphone with an Element pickup for clean, clear, dynamic tone. The Tru-Mic uses noise-canceling technology and picks up the vibrations of your entire soundboard, while the Element pickup supports the low frequencies.

The control unit features Volume, Mix, and Phase controls and nestles inside the soundhole for easy access, with no holes cut into the side of the guitar. The Mix control lets you blend between the microphone and pickup to dial in the sound you need for any room or PA system. You can blend between the augmented mic and the full-range pickup depending on your playing style and the acoustics of the venue.

Whether you're running direct to a PA, through an acoustic amp, or into an audio interface for recording, the Anthem delivers natural, feedback-resistant tone that sounds like your guitar — just louder.

Modern Playability with Vintage Soul

The satin neck features a Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile with high-performance taper and a 25.4" scale length, offering a comfortable feel for both chord work and lead playing. The fingerboard width at the nut is 1 3/4", giving you enough space for fingerstyle work without feeling too wide for barre chords.

Ebony bridge, bridge pins, and fingerboard with abalone dot inlays provide both visual elegance and tonal clarity. The 16" saddle radius offers a flatter feel that's great for both strumming and single-note lines. Nickel open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs complete the vintage-inspired aesthetic while providing stable, accurate tuning.

The 2025 refresh includes updates like a thinner fingerboard with beveled edges and a refined bridge and heel shape, all designed to improve comfort without changing the fundamental character of the guitar. Each guitar includes a hardshell case.
