A Bit of 1970s Martin History:
The 1970s were an important era for Martin, marked by high production demand and the continued popularity of their dreadnought models. The D-35, introduced in 1965, stood out with its three-piece rosewood back, designed both for structural stability and for Martin’s desire to use smaller pieces of high-grade rosewood. By the early ’70s, the D-35 had developed a reputation for its balanced tone, strong low end, and clear, articulate highs a sonic character that set it apart from the D-28. Many players consider early- to mid-’70s Martins to have a uniquely warm and mature voice today, thanks to decades of aging tonewoods and solid craftsmanship from the Nazareth factory.
Despite the modifications, this example still showcases the recognizable Martin warmth and projection expected from a 1970s D-35. A solid player-grade vintage Martin ready for its next chapter.
