used-rga-standard-7-string-black-aurora-burst-matte-excellent-condition
Ibanez RGA Standard RGA742EX 7-String Electric Guitar Black Aurora Burst Matte Used

Seven Strings, Zero Compromise

If you've been looking for a 7-string that doesn't ask you to slow down, the Ibanez RGA742EX is worth a serious look. This is a guitar built around the idea that extended range and speed should coexist without fighting each other — and the specs back it up. A bolt-on Wizard II-7 maple neck, a meranti solid body with that signature RGA archtop sculpt, and a pair of passive Quantum 7 ceramic humbuckers make this a focused, no-frills tool for heavy music.

The Black Aurora Burst Matte finish gives it a moody, understated look — dark enough to mean business on stage but distinctive enough to stand out. Black hardware throughout ties the whole aesthetic together cleanly.

This is a used example in Excellent condition, which means it's been played and loved but is in outstanding shape. It's a smart way to get a capable 7-string platform without paying new-guitar prices.

This Ibanez RGA Standard RGA742EX is in Very Good condition. The guitar is fully functional, It has normal play wear.

A Neck Built for Speed

The Wizard II-7 is one of the reasons players keep coming back to Ibanez for extended-range guitars. It's a three-piece maple construction with a thin, flat profile — 19mm at the first fret and 21mm at the twelfth — designed to let your fretting hand move with minimal effort across all seven strings. That slim feel is especially useful when you're navigating complex chord voicings or fast passages that span the full width of the neck.

The 25.5" scale length hits the sweet spot for 7-string tension — string response stays clear and defined even when you drop into the low B register. Paired with a jatoba fingerboard and 15.75" radius, it offers a comfortable, slightly flatter feel that suits both rhythm work and lead lines. Twenty-four jumbo frets give you the full upper-register range, and the offset white dot inlays keep navigation simple without adding visual noise.

Quantum 7 Humbuckers and Flexible Switching

The Quantum 7 humbucker set uses passive ceramic construction, voiced for a quick low-end response to picking with precise note definition across fast passages. The mid-to-high range stays full-bodied and controlled, which matters when you're playing dense riffs or intricate chord work through high gain. These are pickups designed to stay articulate under pressure — they track fast picking cleanly without turning to mush.

Controls are kept straightforward: one volume, one tone, and a 5-way lever switch. That switching range gives you tonal flexibility — from full neck or bridge humbucker voices to combinations that open up thinner, more nuanced sounds — without making you navigate a complicated layout mid-set.

F107 Hardtail Bridge and Rock-Solid Stability

The F107 fixed bridge is all about tuning stability and sustain. Without a tremolo system in the chain, string energy transfers directly into the body, which enhances resonance and keeps the guitar in tune through extended sessions. Individual saddle adjustment makes setup and intonation work straightforward — each string can be dialed in independently without affecting the others.

Ibanez die-cast tuning machines handle the headstock end, and together with the fixed bridge, this is a guitar that stays where you put it. For players who gig or record frequently, that reliability is worth more than it might sound on paper.

Product Features:

Body: Meranti solid body with sculpted RGA archtop design

Neck: 3-piece maple Wizard II-7, bolt-on joint, satin polyurethane finish

Fretboard: Jatoba with 15.75" (400mm) radius, offset white dot inlays

Frets: 24 jumbo nickel silver

Scale length: 25.5" (648mm) | Nut width: 1.89" (48mm), plastic nut

Pickups: Quantum 7 HH — passive ceramic humbuckers at neck and bridge

Controls: 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 5-way lever switch

Bridge: Ibanez F107 fixed hardtail (10.5mm string spacing)

Hardware: Black throughout; Ibanez die-cast tuning machines

Finish: Black Aurora Burst Matte (satin polyurethane)

Strings: 7 (factory tuning B–E–A–D–G–B–E)

Brand: Ibanez

Model: RGA Standard RGA742EX

SKU: U-RGA742EX|I251207774

Condition: Used

Since 1872, C.A.
