comfort-apprentice-acoustic-electric
Washburn Comfort WCG12FCE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Cognac Sunburst Used

A Grand Auditorium That Actually Fits You

Most acoustic guitars are built around tone first and everything else second — which is fine until you've been playing for a couple of hours and your picking arm is digging into the edge of the body. The Washburn Comfort WCG12FCE takes a different approach. It puts the player's comfort right alongside the sonic priorities, with a carved bevel armrest built into the lower bout that takes the edge — literally — off longer sessions. It's a small thing until it isn't.

Beyond the ergonomic angle, this is a full-featured acoustic-electric in a Grand Auditorium cutaway body, dressed in vivid flamed okoume from top to back and sides. The look turns heads, and the Barcus-Berry LX-4 onboard electronics mean you can plug in the moment the opportunity calls for it. This used example is a solid option for a player who wants a genuinely stage-ready acoustic without paying new-guitar prices.

Flamed Okoume, All the Way Through

The WCG12FCE uses flamed okoume laminate for the top, back, and sides — a consistent material choice that gives the guitar its distinctive figured look and a uniform resonant character throughout the body. Scalloped X-bracing inside helps focus the projection and keep the response lively whether you're fingerpicking or strumming open chords.

The Grand Auditorium body shape sits in a sweet spot: bigger than a concert body, smaller than a dreadnought, and well-balanced across the frequency range. The Venetian cutaway opens up access to the upper frets without sacrificing body volume. Players who like to work the upper register will appreciate both the cutaway and the C-shaped okoume neck, which keeps movement comfortable from first position all the way up.

The Comfort Bevel: More Than a Gimmick

Washburn's comfort bevel armrest is the headline feature of this series — a contoured carve along the lower treble bout where your picking arm naturally rests. It's the kind of feature that feels unnecessary until you try it, and then hard to go back from. Whether you're sitting at a campfire or standing at a mic, the bevel lets the guitar settle naturally against your body rather than fighting you.

The comfort bevel is finished in matching flamed okoume, so it integrates seamlessly into the guitar's overall look rather than looking like an afterthought or add-on. The design is thoughtful enough that it genuinely adds to the visual appeal.

Stage-Ready Electronics and Premium Contact Points

The Barcus-Berry LX-4 preamp system handles amplified performance. It provides onboard EQ controls that let you dial in your plugged-in sound without requiring an external preamp or DI box. For acoustic players moving between unplugged and amplified settings, having a reliable, dedicated onboard system is worth its weight at a gig.

At the key contact points — where your tone is most directly shaped — Washburn specified a purpleheart bridge and real bone nut and saddle. Bone nut and saddle are generally regarded as preferable to synthetic alternatives for sustain and tone transfer, and they're found on instruments priced considerably higher than this. The purpleheart bridge is dense and stable, complementing the okoume neck with a well-matched playing feel.

Product Features:

Body Shape: Grand Auditorium with Venetian cutaway

Top: Flamed okoume laminate with scalloped X-bracing

Back & Sides: Flamed okoume laminate

Neck: Okoume with C-shaped profile

Fretboard: Purpleheart with dot inlays, 20 frets

Bridge: Purpleheart; bone nut and saddle

Electronics: Barcus-Berry LX-4 preamp/EQ system

Comfort Feature: Carved bevel armrest on lower bout

Finish: Gloss Cognac Sunburst

Handedness: Right-handed

This is a used acoustic-electric guitar from our inventory.
